Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Oʻahu works closely with the Oʻahu Children's Justice Center to ensure that each child visiting the Center feels safe, protected, and comfortable. While we work together with our partner agencies to support child victims of abuse, our roles are not the same or interchangeable, as we provide different types of services and support.
The Children's Justice Center of Oʻahu
CJC and partners work together to ensure each child and case receives proper care. They handle tasks such as:
-
Receive interview requests from CWS and law enforcement.
-
Schedule interviews and coordinate with other multidisciplinary team (MDT) partners.
-
CJC interviewers meet with the child while investigators observe and record in a separate room (with guardian consent).
-
Afterward, the MDT meets to plan the next steps.

Before the Oʻahu CJC opened, child victims had to speak to multiple professionals to receive help. After its opening, the CJC streamlined this process by organizing responses to each reported case under one roof.
Note: This describes the interview process currently used by the Oʻahu CJC. Neighbor islands may have different procedures.
